Responsibilities

• Define and drive architecture for large-scale distributed software systems, including scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability decisions.
• Design and evolve high-throughput ad serving, targeting, measurement, and data-processing systems.
• Lead complex cross-team initiatives from requirements and architecture through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Optimize big data applications, distributed computing platforms, resource utilization, processing efficiency, and infrastructure cost.
• Define technical strategy, identify architectural gaps, establish long-term roadmaps, and align investments with business priorities.
• Establish engineering practices for software design, code quality, testing, observability, operational readiness, and production reliability.
• Resolve complex technical challenges and align architectural decisions across engineering teams and organizational boundaries.
• Mentor senior and junior engineers, guide design and code reviews, and develop technical leadership.
• Improve throughput, latency, fault tolerance, service-level objectives, and system resilience.
• Lead integrations with internal and external platforms supporting advertising targeting, measurement, and data capabilities.
• Collaborate with engineering teams in the US and India on project execution, technical knowledge sharing, and organizational alignment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating large-scale, production-grade software systems.
• Experience leading the architecture and delivery of complex distributed systems with significant scale, throughput, reliability, or data-processing requirements.
• Strong proficiency in one or more of Go, Scala, Python, Java, or C++, with deep computer science fundamentals.
• Extensive experience with distributed systems, concurrency, data structures, algorithms, system design, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, MySQL, Redis, or ElastiCache.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating cloud-native systems using AWS, Kubernetes, and related infrastructure technologies.
• Ability to understand and refactor large, complex codebases while maintaining reliability and maintainability.
• Understanding of observability, production troubleshooting, fault tolerance, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
• Ability to make architectural trade-offs and influence technical decisions across multiple teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to mentor engineers, guide technical discussions, and raise engineering standards.
• Experience collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams and driving projects across geographical boundaries.
• Preferred: experience with ad tech platforms, ad serving, audience targeting, advertising measurement, real-time bidding, high-throughput services, large-scale data pipelines, cloud cost optimization, distributed resource management, architecture standards, technical roadmaps, and multi-team technical initiatives.
