Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Staff Engineer to provide technical leadership in developing AI-enabled software solutions across their product portfolio. The role combines hands-on development with architectural guidance, supporting engineers while driving innovation in cloud platforms and scientific instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for software solutions across product portfolio
• Design and implement sophisticated full-stack solutions integrating AI/LLM technologies with enterprise systems
• Mentor and support growth of engineering team members
• Drive adoption of best practices and shape technical direction of critical projects
• Translate complex business requirements into reliable, production-ready solutions

Requirements

• Advanced degree plus 8 years software development experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 8 years with proven technical leadership
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, SQL, and modern web frameworks
• Hands-on experience with generative AI/LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, vector databases, and embeddings
• Cloud-native architecture expertise including microservices, CI/CD, containers, and observability
• Experience with project management systems, analytics, workflow automation, and enterprise integrations
• Strong system design, testing, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Agile/Scrum development experience and knowledge of version control systems
