Summary
The Sr. Data Developer I designs, develops, and supports scalable data solutions that enable enterprise analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision making. This role works across data integration, transformation, modeling, quality, governance, and analytics platforms, leveraging cloud-based technologies and modern data engineering practices. The position partners with business, analytics, data science, and technology teams to deliver reliable, compliant, and high-quality data assets that support operational and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable data pipelines and data integration solutions.
- Develop, optimize, and support datasets, data models, and transformation processes using SQL, Spark-based technologies, and cloud data platforms.
- Support business intelligence, analytics, and reporting solutions, including dashboard and reporting capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Integrate and transform data from enterprise systems and third-party sources into analytics-ready structures.
- Partner with data scientists, analysts, and technology teams to enable advanced analytics and data initiatives.
- Apply data quality, governance, lineage, security, and compliance standards throughout the data lifecycle.
- Utilize agile delivery practices and development lifecycle tools to manage work, code repositories, and deployments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data platforms, pipelines, and workflows to ensure performance and reliability.
- Contribute to data architecture, modeling standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders through written, verbal, and virtual communication channels.
- Use standard productivity, collaboration, reporting, and data development tools to perform job responsibilities.
- Analyze, document, and present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Maintain required documentation, process standards, and compliance practices.
- Participate in meetings, project activities, and cross-functional collaboration efforts.
- Travel occasionally as required by business needs.
Education and Work Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Five (5) or more years of professional experience in data engineering, data development, or related roles.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Apache Spark.
- Advanced SQL development experience, including data transformation, optimization, and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of data governance, data security, data quality, and regulatory or compliance requirements.
- Experience using software development lifecycle and agile delivery tools.
Education and Work Preferences
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer or equivalent certification.
- Databricks Data Engineer certification.
- Power BI Data Analyst certification.
- Experience supporting analytics within regulated industries, including life sciences, healthcare, or similar environments.
- Experience with enterprise applications and data integrations supporting business operations.
- Strong project planning, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
