Merck seeks a cloud data engineering specialist in Hyderabad to support scientific data pipelines and infrastructure for drug discovery. The role involves developing large-scale data processing workflows, managing petabytes of multi-omics and chemistry data, and collaborating with research scientists to accelerate therapy discovery.
Responsibilities
Execute and support scientific data pipelines and coordinate large-scale data movement across infrastructure
Develop highly parallelized analytical workflows for on-premises and cloud-hosted HPC datacenters
Promote adoption of development, design, architecture, and DevOps best practices across teams
Manage technical and business dependencies while balancing constraints with business requirements
Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and business leaders across geographical locations to define and deliver complex engineering features
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, engineering, or equivalent technical field
3 to 6 years of hands-on cloud data engineering experience
Proficient in Python with 3+ years of practical experience
Experience with Linux command line tools, batch processing, and large-scale data processing
Hands-on experience with AWS CLI, boto3, and AWS storage services (S3, EFS, EBS)
Knowledge of data consistency validation and scientific pipeline support
Experience with bioinformatics pipelines and data formats (FastQ, BAM) is advantageous
