JOB DESCRIPTION – SITE ACCOUNTANT

Note: Based on the job location being specified as “Project Site,” this role requires the candidate to be physically present at the construction/infrastructure project site. Remote or hybrid work options are not applicable for this position.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Site Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting and financial activities at the project site. The candidate will be responsible for accurate transaction recording, bill booking, payment processing, reconciliations, fund reporting, costing and statutory compliance support.

The ideal candidate should have good practical knowledge of site accounting, TDS, GST, bank transactions, vendor/customer accounts and inventory accounting .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. BILL BOOKING & ACCOUNTING

• Accurate and timely booking of purchase, expense and other project-related bills .
• Verify bills, supporting documents, approvals and accounting entries.
• Ensure proper allocation of expenses to the respective project/cost centre.
• Maintain proper site accounting records and documentation.

2. BANK PAYMENT & RECEIPT PROCESSING

• Process and record bank payments and receipts .
• Verify payment requests, supporting documents and approvals before processing.
• Maintain bank-related records and ensure timely accounting of transactions.
• Prepare and monitor bank reconciliation statements.

3. CASH MANAGEMENT

• Handle cash payments and receipts at the project site.
• Maintain cash book and supporting vouchers.
• Ensure proper documentation and authorization of cash transactions.
• Monitor daily cash balance and cash requirements.

4. RECONCILIATION

• Perform regular Bank Reconciliation and Ledger Reconciliation .
• Reconcile Vendor, Customer and Inventory accounts .
• Identify discrepancies, outstanding entries and incorrect postings and coordinate for timely resolution.
• Ensure all reconciliation differences are properly investigated and cleared.

5. DAILY FUND REPORT

• Prepare and submit the Daily Fund Report for the project site.
• Track daily opening balance, receipts, payments and closing balance.
• Monitor project cash and bank requirements and provide timely information to management.

6. DAILY COSTING

• Prepare and maintain Daily Project Costing .
• Record and monitor project-wise expenses under appropriate cost heads.
• Track actual expenditure against budgets/approved costs wherever required.
• Provide accurate costing information to the Project and Accounts teams.

7. TDS & GST

• Maintain proper records for TDS and GST-related transactions .
• Carry out TDS and GST reconciliation with books and relevant records.
• Verify applicable TDS deductions and GST details on vendor bills.
• Support the HO Accounts/Taxation team in statutory compliance and preparation of required data.

8. REPORTING & DOCUMENTATION

• Maintain proper accounting records, vouchers, invoices and supporting documents at the site.
• Provide regular accounting reports and MIS to the Project/HO Accounts team.
• Ensure timely submission of site accounting data to Head Office.
• Coordinate with vendors, customers, project teams and HO Accounts for accounting-related matters.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Experience: 3–7 years of relevant experience in Site Accounting, Construction, Infrastructure, EPC or Project Accounting .
• Strong practical knowledge of Site Accounting .
• Good knowledge of Bill Booking and Ledger Accounting .
• Experience in Bank Payment/Receipt and Cash Management .
• Strong knowledge of Bank, Vendor, Customer and Inventory Reconciliation .
• Good understanding of TDS and GST reconciliation .
• Knowledge of Daily Fund Reporting and Project Costing .
• Good command of MS Excel .
• Experience with ERP/accounting software is preferred.
• Good analytical and reconciliation skills.
• Ability to work independently at a project site.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Professional qualification (e.g., CA, CMA, ACS) or pursuing the same.
• Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or EPC projects.
• Familiarity with industry-specific accounting practices and compliance requirements.
• Experience in using accounting software like Tally, SAP, Oracle, or similar.
• Strong communication and coordination skills for interfacing with site teams and headquarters.

Candidates with practical experience in handling complete accounting activities at a construction/project site will be preferred.
