The Senior Virtualization Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, optimization, and support of enterprise virtualization and hybrid cloud infrastructure environments. This role provides technical leadership for VMware and Nutanix platforms, leads infrastructure upgrade and migration initiatives, and ensures the availability, performance, and scalability of virtualized environments.
The position plays a key role in delivering datacenter transformation projects, infrastructure modernization programs, platform consolidations, and operational improvements. The Senior Virtualization Engineer partners with architects, project managers, support teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable and cost-effective infrastructure solutions while maintaining operational excellence.
Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, infrastructure health assessments, and resource optimization.
Project Delivery & Infrastructure Modernization
Participate in infrastructure design reviews, solution planning, and implementation activities.
Develop project estimates, implementation plans, risk assessments, and technical documentation.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
Operations & Support
Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex virtualization, storage, networking, and infrastructure issues.
Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to improve platform stability.
Monitor infrastructure performance and proactively address capacity or operational risks.
Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, or related tools.
Work closely with infrastructure architects, application teams, support teams, and vendors.
Communicate technical issues, project status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Support operational handover and knowledge transfer activities following project completion.

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise virtualization and infrastructure engineering.
• Experience supporting medium to large enterprise virtualization environments and infrastructure transformation projects.
