The Senior Software Development Engineer is responsible for the design, development and long-term technical health of business-critical applications and services. The Senior Software Development Engineer leads technical design and implementation within their area, mentors other engineers, and helps ensure the systems they work on remain scalable, secure, reliable and maintainable.
Software Development & Architecture
Design, develop, test and deploy complex software solutions.
Lead technical design discussions and guide implementation approaches.
Contribute to architectural decisions and identify technical risks.
Drive improvements in application scalability, performance and reliability.
Lead investigation and root-cause analysis of complex production issues.
Partner with DevOps and Platform teams to improve reliability, monitoring and observability.
Lead technical discussions and provide guidance during design and implementation.
Mentor Software Engineers and support their technical development.
Champion high standards for code quality, testing, security and maintainability.
AI-Enabled Engineering
Use AI-assisted development tools across coding, testing, debugging, documentation and code review to improve engineering productivity and quality.
Demonstrate practical experience with AI coding assistants and agentic development workflows , using them effectively to understand existing code, troubleshoot problems and accelerate solution development.
Apply strong engineering judgement when reviewing AI-generated output, ensuring solutions meet expected standards for quality, security, performance and maintainability.
Actively adopt and promote effective AI-enabled development practices within the team.
Collaborate closely with Product Management, Architecture, Support, DevOps and other Engineering teams.
Provide technical input during planning, estimation and execution.
Communicate technical decisions, risks and trade-offs clearly to relevant stakeholders.
Education / Experience
Familiarity with event-driven architectures, messaging and asynchronous processing , including Service Bus or equivalent technologies.
Familiarity with NoSQL and caching technologies , such as MongoDB and Redis.
Experience with CI/CD, application security, observability and modern software delivery practices .
Experience with Kubernetes and modern UI/design systems such as Material UI/MUI or equivalent.
Exposure to PHP/AngularJS is beneficial for working with existing platform components; Java or C# experience is a plus.
