Build the Linux platform beneath the product — from BSP and bootloader to kernel, hardware integration, and long-term maintainability.

Before You Apply

This is a full-time employment opportunity . We are not considering B2B, freelance, consulting, or independent-contractor arrangements for this position.

This is a low-level Embedded Linux platform-engineering role . We are looking for engineers with hands-on experience in Yocto, BSP integration, Linux kernel, Device Tree, bootloaders, board bring-up, and hardware/software integration .

This is not primarily a Linux application-development or userspace C/C++ role.

About L4B Software

L4B Software is an embedded software and platform-engineering company headquartered in Munich, Germany, with an engineering presence in Pune, India.

We design, customize, integrate, secure, and maintain operating-system platforms based on Embedded Linux and Android/AOSP , tailored to the hardware, product architecture, security requirements, and lifecycle needs of our customers.

Our engineering capabilities span:

We support long-lifecycle and technically demanding products across medical technology, automotive, industrial systems, and other embedded environments .

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Embedded Linux / Yocto BSP Engineer to develop and maintain customized Linux operating-system platforms for embedded products.

You will work across Yocto, BSP integration, Linux kernel, Device Tree, bootloaders, hardware enablement, and low-level system debugging .

This role goes beyond board bring-up. You will help turn vendor BSPs and low-level Linux components into reliable, reproducible, secure, and maintainable operating-system platforms designed for long product lifecycles .

What You'll Do

Develop and maintain Yocto-based Embedded Linux distributions .
Create and maintain Yocto recipes, layers, machine configurations, and platform customizations.
Integrate and maintain vendor BSPs and SoC platform components .
Perform board bring-up and hardware enablement.
Configure, integrate, debug, and maintain Linux kernels .
Develop and troubleshoot Device Tree configurations.
Work with bootloaders such as U-Boot .
Integrate and debug device drivers and hardware/software interfaces.
Investigate complex boot, kernel, BSP, and hardware-integration issues.
Support Secure Boot, platform hardening, OTA/update, and other platform-security activities .
Improve build reproducibility, maintain patches, and support platform releases across long product lifecycles.
Integrate platform builds with CI/CD infrastructure and collaborate with Product Cybersecurity, DevOps, and Validation teams.

What You Bring

Strong professional experience in Embedded Linux platform/BSP development .
Strong hands-on experience with Yocto Project and BitBake .
Experience creating and maintaining Yocto recipes and layers .
Strong BSP integration experience.
Linux kernel configuration, integration, and debugging experience.
Hands-on Device Tree experience.
Experience with bootloaders such as U-Boot .
Board bring-up and hardware-enablement experience.
Strong C/C++ knowledge for low-level embedded development and debugging.
Experience debugging problems across bootloader, kernel, BSP, drivers, and hardware boundaries .
Strong Linux command-line and system-debugging skills.
Experience with Git and software configuration management .

Technical Experience We Value

Relevant experience across several of the following would be particularly valuable:

Experience building platforms for regulated, safety-critical, security-sensitive, or long-lifecycle products is an advantage.

What This Role Is Not

This is not primarily :

Linux application or userspace development
General C/C++ application development
Cloud/backend engineering
DevOps engineering
Android application development

You should be comfortable working close to the hardware and operating system , where debugging may require moving between the bootloader, BSP, kernel, Device Tree, drivers, and physical target.

Why Join L4B?

At L4B, you'll work on the operating-system platform itself , not simply applications running on top of it.

You'll work alongside engineers across Embedded Linux, Android/AOSP, Product Cybersecurity, DevOps, and Validation to build customized platforms that must remain reliable and maintainable throughout demanding product lifecycles.

We hire for technical depth, relevant hands-on experience, problem-solving ability, and engineering ownership . You don't need to match every technology listed above, but you should have strong Embedded Linux/Yocto foundations and be comfortable solving problems across system boundaries.
