  Job Description

Do you love turning complex topics into clear, well-researched insight? Are you the person who checks the source, sharpens the argument, and makes every sentence earn its place? If you bring analytical rigor from a consulting, banking, or research background and you write exceptionally well, this role is a great fit.

We’re seeking a Research Analyst to research, review, write, and edit content for McFadyen Digital and an affiliated AI best-practices community. You will split your time evenly between research (AI in commerce, eCommerce and marketplace trends, competitors and partners, and search insights) and reviewing, editing, and rewriting content, so it is accurate, clear, and easy to scan.

Top 5 Responsibilities

1. Research AI in commerce, eCommerce and marketplace trends, competitors, and partners using original research, quarterly earnings calls, and government findings, and deliver briefs and trusted sources for both community and McFadyen content.

2. Review and edit content to the editorial standard - Review drafts against the editorial standard, fact-check claims and data, and ensure every piece passes quality checks before publication. Be the daily human-in-the-loop reviewer, editor, and approver.

3. Rewrite existing web content - Rewrite existing AI best-practices content to be clear, accurate, and easy to scan, working through an agreed backlog.

4. Write original content - Draft articles, research summaries, and report sections grounded in credible sources and clear analysis.

5. Track content quality and page performance - Monitor quality checks and page performance and recommend improvements based on the results.

Additional Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and validate data for research reports and thought leadership, such as industry benchmarks and survey results.

• Use keywords and SEO/AEO research to shape topics, structure, and answers that both people and AI search engines can find.

• Build and maintain a library of trusted sources, data points, and research notes.

• Publish and update content on CMS platforms.

• Use Claude and other AI tools to speed up research and drafting, while verifying every fact.

• Work with marketing, design, and subject-matter experts to turn research into finished content.

Qualifications

Top 5 Qualifications

1. 5-10 years of experience at an investment bank, research firm, or top-tier consulting firm, or in a similar business analyst role.

1. Exceptional written US English. Clear, concise, and polished writing, with strong editing skills.

1. Strong research and analytical skills. Able to find credible sources, synthesize complex information, and form a clear point of view.

1. Knowledge of eCommerce, marketplaces, or AI Technology.

1. Detail-oriented and self-directed. Able to manage several pieces at once and work with a US-based team across time zones.

Other Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, communications, or a related field; MBA is a plus

• Comfortable working with data. Skilled with spreadsheets and basic analysis, and able to turn numbers into a story.

• Experience with SEO/AEO tools such as Semrush or Ahrefs

• Experience using Claude or other generative AI tools for research and writing

• Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills, and experience with CMS platforms

• Experience with a leading research, advisory, or financial services firm (such as Gartner, Forrester, Euromonitor, Goldman Sachs, or J.P. Morgan) is strongly preferred.

• Fluent US English is mandatory .
