Job Description 

Position Overview 

Saint-Gobain Innovation Hub India (SGI-I) is seeking an experienced in 

Polymer Processing and extrusion to support product and process development activities for 

construction and industrial applications. 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the extrusion 

capabilities, including experimental planning, material preparation, extrusion trials, equipment upkeep, 

process optimisation, testing, data analysis and technical documentation. 

The role requires a hands-on professional with a strong understanding of polymer processing, extrusion 

equipment and safe laboratory practices. The candidate will work closely with scientists, engineers, 

project teams and external partners to translate material concepts into reproducible extrusion processes 

and prototype products. 

Job Summary 

The Research Associate will support the operations of SGI-I’s polymer-processing capabilities to support 

research and development projects. The role will include: 

Key Responsibilities 

Preparing raw materials, formulations and compounds for extrusion trials 

Setting up, operating and troubleshooting extrusion and downstream equipment 

Planning and executing experiments safely and accurately 

Optimising material formulations and extrusion process parameters 

Maintaining equipment, tooling, dies and laboratory infrastructure 

Testing and characterising processed materials and prototypes 

Recording, analysing and presenting experimental results 

Supporting the development of robust and scalable processing conditions 

Ensuring compliance with Saint-Gobain EHS and laboratory-quality requirements 

Qualifications and Skills 

M-tech or Msc Plastic Technology from CIPET / M.Tech Polymer Engineering or 

Mechanical Engineering from CIPET in plastic processing with experience 

Experience related to handling the plastic compounding & processing equipment’s 

Core Responsibilities 

Manage the utilisation, upkeep and operational readiness of SGI-I’s extrusion 

capabilities. 

Generate reliable experimental data to support product and process-development 

projects. 

Develop reproducible processing conditions and support prototype development. 

Troubleshoot material, equipment and process-related challenges. 

Document and communicate technical findings. 

Ensure that all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with EHS requirements
