Alstom
Bangalore, भारत
At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.
Could you be the full-time Junior Application Support Engineer in Bangalore we’re looking for?
Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your foundational IT and problem-solving expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside supportive, collaborative, and curious teammates.
You'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our digital railway applications. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as operations and engineering), monitor application dashboards, and apply approved procedures to resolve incidents – and much more.
You’ll specifically take care of monitoring assigned wayside application dashboards and performing pre- and post-patch health checks, but also assist senior engineers with post-incident documentation and participate in knowledge transfer sessions.
We’ll look to you for:
Performing daily monitoring of assigned application dashboards in Dynatrace
Logging and classifying all incoming incidents in ServiceNow accurately
Applying approved runbook procedures to resolve defined incidents (e.g., service restarts, log file clearing, connectivity checks)
Participating in OS patching windows and conducting pre- and post-patch health checks
Assisting senior engineers with post-incident documentation, such as timelines and log extracts
Actively participating in knowledge transfer sessions and application onboarding activities
Joining the 24x7 on-call rotation for critical incidents
All about you
We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
Basic awareness of railway systems and digital railway applications (e.g., TCMS, PIS, CCTV) gained through academic study, internship, or early career exposure
Foundational IT skills, such as Linux command line basics, TCP/IP fundamentals, and the ability to read and interpret application logs
Experience using a ticketing or ITSM tool (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira) for incident logging
A genuine willingness to learn and grow – curiosity, dependability, and motivation are key
Intellectual curiosity about how railway digital systems work – a desire to understand not just what happened, but why and its impact on live services
Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Python or Bash) – nice to have
Exposure to monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Grafana) or familiarity with container/cloud environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Azure) – nice to have
Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:
Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines
Work with new security standards for rail signalling
Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues
Contribute to innovative projects
Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment
Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries
Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning
Progress towards senior engineering roles or specialized technical pathways
Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)
You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
