About the job
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design 3D models for miniaturized medical device enclosures, precision lens mounts, and handheld imaging probes using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360).2. Perform 3D printing of mechanical components and custom probe housings. Iteratively refine designs for clinical ergonomics, heat dissipation, and structural integrity.
3. Assemble custom mechanical housings with optical components (such as C-mount/S-mount lenses, polarization filters, and LED arrays) and imaging sensors. Perform high-precision optomechanical alignment.
4. Liaise with specialized external fabrication facilities, PCB manufacturers, and industry partners to source materials and outsource high-precision, medical-grade manufacturing when required.
5. Conduct structural, thermal, and durability testing on prototyped diagnostic instruments to ensure they are robust enough for real-world clinical environments.
6. Prepare and maintain detailed engineering drawings, design iteration logs, and technical reports required for ICMR project compliance, technology transfer, and regulatory testing. Last date of application: 10th November, 2026.
Skill(s) required
3D Printing Autodesk Fusion 360 SolidWorks
Earn certifications in these skills
Other requirements
1. Proficiency in 3D modeling and mechanical design using SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Fusion 360 to prototype ergonomic, clinically safe medical imaging probes. Familiarity with rapid prototyping workflows (e.g., 3D printing and slicing software).
2. Experience using Simulation Tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics or ANSYS for structural, thermal, or optomechanical simulations to validate the design, safety, and reliability of the probe.
3. Ability to design precision mounts and enclosures for optical components (lenses, sensors, lighting), factoring in spatial constraints for field of view and working distances.
4. Candidates well-versed in Python libraries: OpenCV, MediaPipe, Tkinter and integration of a real-time AI model with industrial machine vision cameras will be an additional advantage.
