Procurement Head - Mining Industry in Kolār, भारत

Apt Resources is seeking an experienced Procurement Head with a strong background in the mining industry to oversee procurement operations in Senegal. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating commercial agreements, and ensuring the timely availability of materials, equipment, spare parts, and services required for mining operations. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in mining procurement, strong commercial and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage complex procurement activities in an industrial or remote operating environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to support mining operations and business objectives.
• Manage the full procurement cycle, including sourcing, tendering, supplier evaluation, negotiations, purchase orders, and contract administration.
• Oversee the procurement of mining equipment, machinery, spare parts, maintenance materials, consumables, and operational supplies.
• Identify and evaluate suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers based on cost, quality, reliability, and delivery performance.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings and operational efficiency.
• Coordinate with mining operations, engineering, maintenance, logistics, and warehouse teams to determine procurement requirements.
• Ensure the timely delivery of critical equipment, spare parts, and materials to minimize operational disruptions.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues relating to quality, delivery, pricing, and contractual compliance.
• Manage procurement budgets, expenditure forecasts, and cost-control initiatives.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, applicable regulations, and operational standards.
• Assess supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to address potential shortages and delivery delays.
• Lead and supervise procurement personnel and promote continuous improvement in procurement processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• 18–20 years of relevant procurement experience, with substantial experience in the mining industry.
• Proven experience in procurement for mining operations, industrial projects, or large-scale resource operations.
• Strong knowledge of mining equipment, heavy machinery, spare parts, maintenance materials, and operational supplies.
• Extensive experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost optimization.
• Ability to manage procurement requirements in remote or challenging operating environments.
• Experience working with international suppliers and managing cross-border procurement and logistics is an advantage.
• Strong commercial awareness, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in procurement systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring operational continuity.
• Willingness to work in Senegal.
