About the job

Unhu is looking for a media & public relations associate who enjoys meeting people, communicating, writing, creating stories and working around startups. This is not a conventional retail or desk job. You will work from the Unhu Startup Emporium - interacting with founders and visitors, representing startup brands, engaging our larger founders community, helping organise events, creating founder stories and contributing to our quarterly print magazine. The role is ideal for a fresher who is confident, curious, creative and wants hands-on exposure to startups, community building, media, events and public relations.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Founder & visitor experience:
1. Actively work on increasing Emporium footfall through community outreach, founder invitations, local collaborations, WhatsApp communication and creative on-ground activities.
2. Identify new opportunities to bring relevant customers, founders and visitors to the Emporium rather than relying only on walk-in traffic.
3. Plan small experiences, product discovery activities and founder interactions that give people a reason to visit and revisit the Emporium.
4. Maintain follow-ups with previous visitors and community members and invite them back for relevant launches, experiences and activities.
5. Welcome visitors and give them an engaging tour of the Unhu Startup Emporium.
6. Understand the products, founders and stories behind brands represented at the Emporium.
7. Introduce visitors to relevant brands and encourage them to experience and try products.
8. Build good relationships with founders associated with the Emporium.
9. Capture interesting visitor interactions, testimonials and product experiences through smartphone videos.

B. Community engagement:
1. Communicate with founders across Unhu's online communities.
2. Create conversations, questions and activities that encourage meaningful participation.
3. Speak with new applicants interested in joining the community.
4. Understand their business and intent before onboarding relevant founders.
5. Welcome new members, communicate community guidelines and maintain appropriate records.
6. Regularly follow up and build relationships with community members.

C. Events & public relations:
1. Invite relevant founders to Unhu's online and offline events.
2. Coordinate RSVPs and follow-ups.
3. Assist in planning, organising and executing founder events.
4. Interact with and host attendees during events.
5. Follow up with attendees after events and identify founders interested in becoming more deeply involved with the community.
6. Introduce relevant founders to Unhu's Inner Circle and coordinate further conversations.

D. Media & founder stories:
1. Identify interesting founder achievements, milestones and stories.
2. Interview founders and collect relevant information.
3. Write short articles, founder features, event stories and community updates.
4. Coordinate with the media/design team for photographs, graphics, videos and publishing.
5. Help document what's happening across the Unhu ecosystem.

E. Quarterly magazine:
1. Contribute articles and founder stories for the Unhu Founders Journal.
2. Coordinate interviews, information and photographs required for stories.
3. Work with the provided design/media team for the physical quarterly edition.
4. Assist with distribution of the magazine across relevant locations, events, founders and partners.

Note:

This role gives you hands-on exposure to startups + public relations + community building + events + content + founder stories + media. Instead of working on only one small function, you will interact directly with entrepreneurs and understand how brands, communities, events and media are built in the real world.

Other requirements

A. You could be a good fit if you:

1. Are a fresher or have up to 1 year of experience.

2. Communicate confidently with new people.

3. Have good spoken and written English.

4. Can write interesting, grammatically sound content.

5. Enjoy startups, entrepreneurship, events, media and meeting founders.

6. Are comfortable recording basic smartphone videos and interacting with people on camera.

7. Can follow up consistently without requiring repeated instructions.

8. Are organised and comfortable handling multiple small responsibilities during a day.

9. Are willing to learn quickly and take initiative.

10. Prior experience in college societies, events, content writing, journalism, PR, social media, entrepreneurship cells or community activities is an advantage but not mandatory.

B. Requirements:

1. Own laptop is mandatory.

2. Must be available to work on-site at Malsi, Dehradun from 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM.

3. Tuesday will be the weekly off. Saturdays and Sundays are regular working days.

4. Own conveyance is preferred due to occasional local event and magazine-related coordination.

5. Must be comfortable interacting with founders, customers and new people regularly.

6. Must be comfortable writing in English.
