We are looking for a Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of vending machines and automated dispensing systems .

The freelancer will work on mechanical product design, 3D modelling, sheet-metal design, dispensing mechanisms, fabrication drawings, prototyping, and design improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for vending machines .
  • Create accurate 3D CAD models and assemblies .
  • Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing and fabrication drawings .
  • Design sheet-metal enclosures, frames, panels, trays, brackets, doors, and internal structures.
  • Design and improve product dispensing mechanisms .
  • Work with mechanical components such as shafts, gears, bearings, rollers, springs, hinges, locks, and actuators.
  • Select suitable materials and standard mechanical components.
  • Prepare BOMs and manufacturing documentation .
  • Apply appropriate tolerances, fits, and GD&T.
  • Support prototype assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and design modifications .
  • Identify and resolve mechanical design and operational issues.
  • Ensure designs are practical for manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and servicing .
  • Coordinate with Electrical, Electronics, Embedded, and Software teams for overall machine integration.
  • Complete assigned design tasks within agreed project timelines and deliverables .

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical Design and Product Development .
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Creo , or similar CAD software.
  • Good knowledge of:
    • Sheet-metal design
    • Machine components
    • Mechanical mechanisms
    • Fabrication and welding
    • Machining
    • Bearings, shafts, gears, springs, fasteners, etc.
    • Engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Good understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) .
  • Ability to convert concepts into practical and manufacturable designs.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet agreed project deadlines.

Qualification

  • Diploma / B.E. / https://jobeax.com/link/2DENLGgQM7whDhaE in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Design, Product Design, Machine Design, Automation, or similar fields.
  • Experience in vending machines, automated dispensing systems, kiosks, appliances, industrial equipment, or special-purpose machines will be an advantage.

Freelance Engagement

  • This is a project-based freelance engagement .
  • Work will be assigned based on project requirements and development stages.
  • Payment may be structured on a project, milestone, or assignment basis , depending on the scope of work.
  • The freelancer is expected to deliver quality designs within the agreed timelines .
  • Confidentiality of all company, product, design, and technical information will be mandatory.
  • Previous experience/portfolio of mechanical product design projects is preferred.
