Job Description

The Lead of the Solutions Engineering (Merchant/Partner Integrations) team will establish a new and steer existing team of engineers who are responsible for the success of developers integrating with PhonePe products. 

At PhonePe we consider the developer experience to be central to the overall experience of our merchants. When we do our job well, merchants are able to smoothly launch and grow their businesses on PhonePe, whether they’re integrating payments for the first time or building complex payment systems. 

PhonePe is beloved by developers for the simplicity of our APIs, the thoroughness of our documentation, and our focus on developer experience. The Solutions Engineering team is the glue that supports our developers and champions developer experience as part of the overall merchant experience. 

Responsibilities: 

● Define and deliver a comprehensive technical experience for developers integrating PhonePe 

● Develop both the long-term vision and strategy for the Solutions Engineering team and manage day-to-day operations 

● Work cross-functionally across PhonePe to develop solutions to meet merchant’s requirements 

● Recruit, coach, and develop user facing engineers 

● Inspire, motivate and enable individual development and promote career growth of the team 

● Develop relationships across the entire organization at PhonePe to influence others in aiming for the best developer experience possible 

● Define, implement, and monitor key metrics that ensure the future sustainability and quality of the developer experiences 

● Define, document, and implement processes for integration to ensure compliance and standardization across stakeholders 

● Improve API integrations by studying current market practices 

● Responsible for on-time delivery and overall quality of deliverables 

● Working closely with product managers on common goals to achieve best in the class developer and merchant experience for our merchants.

Qualifications

● 6+ years of Techno functional experience with cross functional collaboration with tech and non-tech teams 

● Experience in leading, managing and developing user-facing engineering teams 

● Background in software development in one or more programming languages, preferably PHP/Java/. Net 

● Direct experience as a user-facing engineer is highly desired 

● Track record in successfully delivering complex, cross functional technology solutions 

● You encourage a healthy work environment that’s both supportive and challenging

● You’re excited to help engineers develop new skills and advance in their careers 

● You lead by example, by setting the right context, and by helping teammates do their best work 

● You know when to let a team work through problems and when to jump in to help 

● You’re technical enough to ask engineers good questions about design and integration decisions 

● You have Strong quantitative, analytical, and Problem Solving skills 

● Experience in API driven products is a big plus. 

● Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and listening skills 

● Comfortable working in a fast paced environment
