About the job

We are a law firm based in Mumbai with a key focus on practice areas of civil and commercial litigation and commercial and contract advisory. We are looking for a dedicated associate committed to building a long-term career in litigation with our firm in our Mumbai Office. The role is best suited for individuals looking for practical exposure, responsibility and long-term growth, rather than a short-term stint.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct legal research.
2. Draft litigation pleadings - applications, notices, writs, suits, replies, rejoinders, complaints, contracts etc.
3. Appear in courts and forums all over Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane - High Court of Bombay, JMFC Courts, Civil Courts, NCLT, etc.
4. Assist the team in ancillary litigation processes - execution, filing, etc.
5. Aid in case preparation and organization for court proceedings.
6. Attend client meetings.
7. Assist with contract and document review.
8. Provide general administrative support to the team as and when required.
9. Coordinate with clients, advocates, counsels, etc.
10. Ensure timely compliance with court deadlines, filings etc.

About role:

1. Nature: Full time associate.
2. Office location: Andheri West, Mumbai (post-transition).
3. Work arrangement: We are in the process of moving to a larger office - estimated timeline is 6 to 12 months. The Associate will have to travel directly from home to courts, forums, or client meetings as required, and complete the remainder of the day's work from home. Post-transition, the Associate will be expected to report to the Andheri West office as and when required by the team.
4. Probation period: 3 - 6 months from date of joining, depending on performance.

Remuneration:

1. During probation, the salary will be INR 10,000/- per month.
2. The salary will be INR 17000/- per month upon completion of probation and subject to confirmation post probation period.

Other requirements

1. Mumbai based candidates only.

2. Minimum 1 year post qualification litigation experience or law graduates with prior internship experience in litigation/dispute resolution. Women returning to practice after a career break are welcome to apply.

3. Must be holding valid enrolment number.

4. Strong written and spoken English.

5. Strong exposure and experience of drafting litigation pleadings, contracts etc. and ability to proficiency in Microsoft Office and particularly, Microsoft Word and formatting of documents.

6. Ability to effectively research case laws and operate research platforms (Manupatra, SCC online, etc.) smoothly.

7. Someone who is comfortable traveling to different courts, forums, offices, etc. all over Mumbai.

8. A self-starter who takes ownership of matters end-to-end – from research and drafting to appearances and client coordination.
