Job title: Network Support Engineer/ISP Technical Specialist
Location: Phuentsholing, Bhutan
Job type: Full-time
Experience level: Minimum 1 year in the ISP or telecom sector

We are seeking a skilled and proactive network support engineer to join our ISP operations team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience configuring network infrastructure, administering Linux systems, managing virtualized environments, and maintaining physical fiber optic networks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Routing & switching: Configure, manage, and troubleshoot MikroTik routers and Cisco switches (VLANs, OSPF, BGP, NAT, firewall rules, and bandwidth management).
2. Linux administration: Perform basic system administration, command-line troubleshooting, and manage network services on Linux-based platforms.
3. Virtualization: Deploy, maintain, and monitor virtual machines and storage within a Proxmox VE environment.
4. Fiber optic infrastructure: Support fiber network deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance (FTTH/FTTB, GPON/EPON, OTDR testing, optical power loss measurement, and splice monitoring).
5. Network monitoring & troubleshooting: Monitor network performance, diagnose outages, resolve routing issues, and ensure uptime SLAs.
6. Technical support & documentation: Assist with escalation tickets, maintain network topology documentation, and track IP address assignments.

A. Required skills & qualifications:

1. Experience: Minimum 1 year of professional technical experience in the ISP or telecom industry.

2. MikroTik & Cisco: Hands-on experience configuring RouterOS (Queue management, Hotspot, PPPoE, Firewall) and Cisco switch administration (VLANing, Trunking, Port Security).

3. Linux platforms: Proficiency with Linux command-line tools, basic scripting, and services (e.g., Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS/RHEL).

4. Virtualization: Practical knowledge of Proxmox VE (setting up hypervisors, VM migration, storage configuration, backups).

5. Fiber optics: Solid understanding of fiber network architecture, fiber handling, power level troubleshooting, and splice tray management.

6. Problem-solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose hardware, routing, and signal-level issues quickly.

B. Preferred/Nice-to-have qualifications:

1. Certifications such as MTCNA/MTCRE (MikroTik) or CCNA (Cisco).

2. Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, PRTG, Cacti, Dude).

3. Basic knowledge of DNS, DHCP, RADIUS servers, and IPAM.
