Finance Associate

Work Mode - 5 days in-office aligned to India business hours
This role is the operational backbone of the finance function. It is being filled as a backfill for a Finance Associate who exited on 31 July 2026, and its scope has been deliberately redesigned. The previous role mixed finance, compliance, and office administration this role covers finance and compliance only. Office facilities, employee experience, and cross-team coordination now sit with a separate Executive Assistant hire.
The Finance Associate exited on 31 July 2026, creating an immediate operational gap in month-end close, receivables, payables, and statutory filings.
The Finance Controller is currently consumed by ground-level finance work, unable to focus on budgeting, forecasting, or board reporting.
Access rights compliance and vendor due diligence are in explicit backlog state and need dedicated operational attention.
The Finance Controller continues to absorb every journal entry, every reconciliation, and every filing, pulling capacity away from strategic financial planning, budget re-planning, and fundraising work. Compliance backlogs deepen. The company cannot scale the finance function with discipline.
Own ground-level finance operations and compliance execution end-to-end. work that lets the Finance Controller focus on strategy, budgeting, and analysis. Close books for both entities (India Private Limited and US Inc.): Post journal entries, run bank reconciliations, and manage accruals on rolling

Vendor invoice processing and payment discipline: paid on or within 3 days of

Goods and Services Tax, Tax Deducted at Source,
Registrar of Companies, Delaware franchise tax, US state- registration renewals
Vendor due diligence records for all vendors appearing in the bank statement within 30 days of first payment
SOC 2 evidence and audit-readiness support for the finance function
Auditor query response during audit windows (annual and event-driven)
Ad-hoc analysis and process improvement in support of the Finance Controller
Financial strategy, forecasting, or budget re-planning: owned by the Finance Controller
Investment or treasury decisions: owned by the Chief Executive Officer and Finance Controller
Board deck drafting or investor communications: owned by the Finance Controller and Chief Executive Officer
Compliance program ownership across Service Organization Control 2, General Data Protection Regulation, ISO 27001, or National Institute of Standards and Technology 800-171: operational support only, program ownership sits with the manager level roles.
Consolidated financials or investor dashboard ownership: contributes inputs but does not own
Vendor Data Processing Agreements or Master Service Agreement signing on behalf of us
Contract negotiations with vendors above 15,000 US Dollars or 15 lakh Indian Rupees in annual value: escalate to Finance Controller
Policy or Standard Operating Procedure authorship: policy authorship stays with Farheen, this role follows and applies policies
Access provisioning to Google Workspace, Notion, and other tools remains under Access Rights compliance.
2 to 4 years in finance operations or accounting at a growing company, ideally B2B Software-as-a-Service
Hands-on with Zoho Books or Tally, able to navigate independently: post entries, run reports, close books
Goods and Services Tax filings, Tax Deducted at Source challans, Registrar of Companies submissions
Diligent and detail-oriented to the point where a reconciliation off by ten rupees bothers you until it balances. Can independently prepare consolidated financials: intercompany eliminations, currency translation, what the numbers actually mean
Strong Excel and Google Sheets
Excellent written communication in English for customer collections, vendor correspondence, and auditor responses
Bangalore-based, comfortable with 5 days in-office work
Direct experience with Service Organization Control 2 evidence, access reviews, or vendor due diligence
US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles awareness for the US entity work
Zoho ecosystem experience beyond Zoho Books
Chartered Accountant Inter or equivalent accounting credential
Experience closing books for a Software-as-a-Service company specifically
Experience supporting a formal audit engagement
Coordination-heavy profiles without direct posting or reconciliation experience
Cannot reconcile accounts accurately
Cannot learn accounting software independently

Someone who reduces cycle time by automating what is manual, not because they were asked to but because they cannot stand watching a slow process.

Read and internalized the Notion policy library and vendor due diligence process
Statutory filings 100 percent on time, including at least one full quarterly cycle for Tax Deducted at Source and monthly Goods and Services Tax returns
Vendor due diligence coverage at 100 percent for all new vendors appearing in the quarter''s bank statements
First quarterly performance review completed with a grand total score at band 3 (60 percent) or higher
All 7 Key Performance Indicators consistently at green across 12 months
Statutory filing work being brought in-house from the current outsourced provider on the Finance Manager growth track
Financial analysis skill promoted from development track to primary: independently produces variance analyses that Controller uses without rework
At least 2 meaningful process improvements documented and adopted by the finance function

Ready for the Finance Manager promotion at month 18 (standard path), or on track for the Compliance Programme Manager path if the individual has leaned into compliance operations

Owning treasury reconciliations and cash management on rolling cadence
Finance Associate to Compliance Programme Manager over 24 months.
