Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks an experienced Software Engineer with strong Python and Java expertise to design and maintain scalable backend applications and services. The role involves developing RESTful APIs, collaborating across teams, and mentoring junior engineers while applying sound engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java and Python-based applications and services
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend integrations with scalability in mind
• Perform code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive root-cause analysis
• Write unit, integration, and automated tests to ensure application quality
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to continuous process improvement

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Python, Django, and Django REST Framework
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle)
• 6+ years of relevant software development experience for Engineer III level
• Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean code
• Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks (pytest, JUnit, Mockito)
