Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Staff Engineer for Software Verification and Validation to lead testing strategy and quality assurance for genomics-based bioinformatics software in regulated medical device environments. The role involves designing automated and manual test frameworks, mentoring engineering teams, and establishing quality standards for next-generation sequencing analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement software testing strategies, methods, and best practices for NGS analytics and instrument software
• Lead and mentor bioinformatics and software test engineering teams across multiple sites
• Establish software quality standards, KPI metrics, and tracking tools for product quality visibility
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define testing scope and manage overall verification and validation activities
• Collaborate with external partners and development teams on requirements for regulated assays and software

Requirements

• Master's or PhD preferred; Bachelor's degree with 8+ years relevant experience
• 8+ years software verification and validation testing in medical device or biotech sectors
• Strong knowledge of NGS-based regulated software, IVD assay practices, and bioinformatics pipelines
• Proven leadership experience managing software quality engineering and multi-site teams
• Expertise in design control for regulated products and standards including ISO 13485, IEC 62304, 21 CFR 820
• Solid understanding of Agile/SCRUM methodologies and modern software development practices
