Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Software Test Engineer II to lead verification and validation strategies for bioinformatics software in genomic diagnostics. The role involves designing automated and manual tests, defining quality standards, and partnering with cross-functional teams in a regulated medical device environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement software testing strategies, methods, and best practices for NGS analytics and instruments software
• Design and execute automated and manual test scripts, including smoke, regression, performance, load, and stress tests for APIs, user interfaces, and web services
• Establish software quality standards, KPI metrics, and tracking tools to measure product quality throughout development lifecycle
• Collaborate with software and bioinformatics leadership to define appropriate scope of testing and manage overall testing activities
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to translate complex informatics and visualization requirements into software design and validation approaches

Requirements

• Master's or PhD, or Bachelor's with 4–6 years of software development and testing experience
• 4+ years performing software verification and validation in medical device or biotech sectors
• Knowledge of NGS-based regulated software, IVD assay development, and informatics data pipelines
• Demonstrated leadership in modern software development methodologies and Agile/SCRUM practices
• Understanding of design control and regulatory standards (ISO 13485, IEC 62304, 21 CFR 820, US-IVD, IVD-D, China, Japan)
• Strong coding skills and solid Quality Assurance and Continuous Integration principles knowledge
