R&D Leader(Industrial Software)-AUEN BL
ABB's Process Automation business area enables customers to operate some of the world's largest and most complex industrial infrastructures, helping them outrun - leaner and cleaner. We offer a broad range of automation, electrification, and digital solutions for process, hybrid, and maritime industries, including industry-specific integrated control and software as well as measurement and analytics solutions and services.
In this role, we are looking for an experienced Product Architect to join our Industrial Automation Digital Organization. You will play a strategic role in defining the technical vision, architecture, and technology roadmap for next-generation industrial software products built on Edge and Cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in cloud-native application architecture, distributed systems, platform engineering, cybersecurity, and modern AI-enabled software development. You will work closely with product management, platform engineering, software development, and global stakeholders to build innovative digital solutions for Industrial Automation.
The work model for the role is: Hybrid
Define and drive the long-term technical vision and architecture strategy for Edge and Cloud-based industrial software products.
Own key product quality attributes including scalability, performance, high availability, observability, maintainability, and operational excellence.
Conduct architecture reviews and technical governance sessions with key stakeholders to ensure solution quality, consistency, and ecosystem alignment.
Plan and develop the architectural runway by identifying technical enablers that support upcoming business features and strategic initiatives.
Create, maintain, and own product Threat Models, ensuring security is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.
Optimize platforms to accelerate application development while enabling innovation, experimentation, and rapid solution delivery.
Evaluate and leverage modern AI technologies and AI-assisted engineering practices to improve software architecture, developer productivity, and engineering efficiency.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
