SCOPE OF ROLE

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Essential

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (B.E., https://jobeax.com/link/2DENLGgQM7whDhaE , or equivalent qualification).

• Proven experience in the design and delivery of upto 400kV substations .

• Strong expertise in LV system design , ensuring compliance with BS 7671 and relevant industry standards.

• Demonstrated experience undertaking earthing system studies and designs across multiple DNO networks and geographical regions.

• Proven capability to perform and authorise design reviews and design verification checks in accordance with DNO and client-specific requirements.

• Sound understanding of electrical installation principles, with the ability to apply engineering knowledge in practical, real-world project environments.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical design requirements and solutions to clients, project managers, construction teams, and other key stakeholders.

• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and technical compliance.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of and experience delivering projects across private electricity networks, data centres, solar farms, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

• A self-aware and proactive approach to professional development, with the ability to identify and address gaps in both technical expertise and soft skills.

• A willingness to mentor, support, and share knowledge with junior engineers, contributing to the development of a high-performing engineering team.

• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, balance complex workloads, and adapt to the evolving needs of projects and the wider team.

• You enjoy working closely with the Senior and Lead Engineers to develop designs from concept stage through detailed design, construction support, and final as-built delivery.

• You possess strong knowledge of single-line diagrams, primary design calculations, substation layouts, equipment sizing, busbar arrangements, cross-sections, and cable trench designs , with experience in LV and HV electrical infrastructure projects.

• You can confidently present technical solutions and design proposals during client meetings, design reviews, and stakeholder workshops.

• You have experience developing technical specifications and documentation to support the procurement of primary plant and equipment.

• You have an understanding of cable design principles up to 400kV , including cable routing, cable length estimation, and termination requirements.

• You collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and proactively resolve technical challenges across engineering, commercial, and construction functions.

• You consistently deliver high-quality, compliant engineering designs that meet customer requirements, project objectives, and applicable industry standards.

• You have a strong understanding of ENA, DNO, IDNO G81 standards, Engineering Recommendations, BS and IEC standards , and can support and mentor others in their application.

• You actively promote value engineering, innovative thinking, and continuous improvement to enhance project outcomes and operational efficiency.

• You are committed to maintaining and improving design quality standards across all projects.

• You ensure all engineering deliverables align with NERS accreditation requirements and relevant regulatory obligations.

• You take ownership of producing practical, buildable designs that support efficient construction delivery while remaining aligned with project budgets and commercial objectives.

• You are proactive in identifying and escalating technical, programme, or compliance-related risks, helping minimise project and business exposure.
