Ensuring Chart’s Success…

CHART INDUSTRIES, INC. (Chart) (NYSE: GTLS) is a leading independent global manufacturer of highly engineered equipment and services related to cryogenic gas processing and rotating equipment. In the cryogenic sector, the Chart brand is synonymous with the liquefaction, distribution, and storage of liquid gases, including oxygen, nitrogen, LNG, biogas, hydrogen, helium, and carbon dioxide. The acquisition of Howden expanded our portfolio to include air and gas handling products such as compressors, cooling fans, steam turbines, and more, expanding our offering of products and solutions across traditional markets and providing access to new ones such as nuclear, energy recovery, tunnel ventilation, mine safety, and electrification.

Chart products are widely used across industry, leisure, science, medicine, food and beverage, water treatment, and clean energy. The ability to combine multiple products to create complete end-to-end solutions is what makes Chart unique and has established the company as a pioneer in developing applications such as LNG to power, hydrogen, carbon capture, and cooling systems for high-energy users such as data centers, green steel, and many more.

What Will You Do?

The Design Engineer – Reciprocating Compressors will be responsible for the mechanical design, analysis, and engineering support of reciprocating compressors. The role involves designing components and systems that meet customer specifications, applicable codes, and internal standards while ensuring reliability, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.

Design and develop reciprocating compressors and compressor-related parts, including cylinders, pistons, crankshaft-driven systems, valves, cylinder lubrication systems etc.
Prepare detailed mechanical designs, calculations, and drawings in line with customer requirements and internal standards.
Perform design calculations related to strength, fatigue, pressure containment, vibration and thermal considerations.
Select materials and components suitable for operating conditions such as pressure, temperature, gas composition, and duty cycle.

Ensure designs comply with applicable international and industry standards such as API 618, ASME, ISO, PED , and customer specifications.
Support documentation for quality, inspection, and certification requirements.
Work closely with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project teams to ensure design feasibility and timely execution.
Provide engineering support during fabrication, assembly, testing, and Mechanical Run Tests (MRT).
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for field issues or test failures.
Contribute to design improvements, standardization, and value engineering initiatives.
Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and revisions.

Your Experience Should Be...
