Key Responsibilities
Depending on the specific focus of the airport role, a BME operator handles vital ramp and terminal tasks:
Baggage Make-up / Handling System (BHS):
Sorts, scans, and routes passenger luggage in the baggage make-up area.
Operates conveyor belts and mechanical sorting systems to ensure bags reach the correct aircraft.
Monitors system blockages or mechanical issues to prevent flight delays. [1, 2]
Bridge Mounted Equipment (BME):
Operates fixed electrical ground power units attached to passenger boarding bridges.
