Chief Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation

Department: Electrical & Instrumentation Position: Chief Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation Experience: 15+ Years Industry: Oil & Gas / Hydrocarbon Consulting / EPC – Design Engineering Location: Mumbai 

Qualification

  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering / Instrumentation Engineering from a recognized institute.

  • First-class qualification preferred.

Industry Experience

Candidates with experience in the following industries are preferred:

  • Oil & Gas

  • Hydrocarbon Consulting

  • EPC / Engineering Design Companies

  • Industrial Projects

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Chief Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation to lead Electrical and Instrumentation engineering activities for industrial and Oil & Gas projects.

The candidate should have strong experience in detailed engineering, equipment selection, system studies, technical specifications, vendor coordination, commissioning, and multidisciplinary project execution .

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering

  • Handle electrical engineering and detailed design for industrial projects as per Indian and International standards/codes .

  • Perform electrical system studies, relay settings, and equipment sizing calculations .

  • Prepare specifications for electrical equipment and systems.

  • Handle Hazardous Area Classification and selection of suitable electrical equipment.

  • Develop and review:

    • Power layouts

    • Earthing layouts

    • Lighting layouts

    • Cable layouts and related drawings

    • BOQs / MTOs

  • Review and approve vendor drawings and technical documents .

  • Support electrical system commissioning, troubleshooting, and site activities .

Instrumentation & Control

  • Develop specifications for DCS, PLC and control systems .

  • Select and prepare specifications for field instruments .

  • Handle instrumentation detailed engineering in 2D/3D environments .

  • Review and approve instrumentation installation drawings and MTOs.

  • Prepare/review Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and control system documentation.

  • Support plant commissioning and troubleshooting.

Automation & System Integration

  • Experience in SCADA development and system integration .

  • Knowledge of:

    • Serial signal interfaces

    • IMCC interfaces

    • VFD interfaces

    • Wiring and control systems

    • Fiber Optic Communication

    • Industrial Networking

  • Experience in hardware selection and logic development .

  • Understanding of HMI/UI development and system networking .

  • Experience in power and heat load calculations .

Project & Engineering Management

  • Lead Electrical & Instrumentation engineering activities from basic engineering through detailed engineering and commissioning .

  • Conduct Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) and support equipment/vendor selection.

  • Coordinate with vendors, clients and other engineering disciplines.

  • Work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment .

  • Provide technical guidance to engineers and team members.

  • Support plant commissioning, troubleshooting and technical problem-solving.

Software / Technical Tools

Experience with the following is preferred:

  • ETAP / CYME

  • PDS

  • PDMS / SmartPlant

  • Other Electrical, Instrumentation and Engineering Design software

Key Skills

  • Strong Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering knowledge

  • Industrial / Oil & Gas project experience

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should have 15+ years of relevant Electrical & Instrumentation engineering experience , preferably from an Oil & Gas, Hydrocarbon Consulting, or EPC Design Engineering background, with strong exposure to detailed engineering, automation/control systems, equipment specifications, vendor management, commissioning, and multidisciplinary project execution .
