About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Area Sales Manager to drive business growth and strengthen distribution relationships for an Asset Management Company (AMC). The ideal candidate will have strong experience in B2B sales through distribution channels , with a proven track record of managing relationships with distributors, banks, financial intermediaries, wealth managers, and other institutional partners.

This role requires a strong understanding of Mutual Funds, Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), Portfolio Management Services (PMS), and alternate investment products , along with the ability to build and manage a high-performing distribution network.

Candidates must have prior experience working with an Asset Management Company (AMC). Candidates whose experience is primarily in direct sales will not be considered.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute the area-wise sales strategy to achieve business, revenue, and AUM growth targets through distribution channels.
Build, manage, and strengthen relationships with mutual fund distributors, IFAs, national distributors, banks, wealth managers, financial advisors, and other channel partners .
Drive sales and distribution of Mutual Funds, AIFs, PMS, and other investment products through B2B partner networks.
Identify new distribution partners and expand the company's presence across the assigned territory.
Develop strong relationships with key decision-makers within distributor organizations and financial institutions.
Enable channel partners through regular product training, market updates, investment insights, and sales support.
Work closely with distributors to identify business opportunities, improve product penetration, and increase assets under management.
Track distributor performance, sales pipelines, AUM flows, and product-wise business contribution.
Conduct regular partner meetings, distributor engagements, seminars, and business reviews to strengthen relationships and generate incremental business.
Collaborate with internal teams including product, marketing, operations, investment, and customer service to ensure effective channel servicing.
Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, distributor preferences, and investor requirements to identify opportunities for growth.
Ensure adherence to organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable compliance standards.
Prepare regular business reports, sales forecasts, channel performance updates, and market intelligence for management.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

8–15 years of relevant sales experience , preferably within the asset management/investment management industry.
Mandatory prior experience with an Asset Management Company (AMC).
Strong hands-on experience in B2B sales through distribution channels .
Proven experience managing and growing relationships with distributors and financial intermediaries.
Strong knowledge of Mutual Funds, AIFs, and PMS .
Demonstrated ability to drive AUM growth and achieve sales targets through channel partners.
Strong understanding of the investment products and wealth-management ecosystem.
Excellent relationship management, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Good-to-Have Skills

Experience managing a banking distribution channel .
Knowledge of alternate investment products and wealth-management solutions.
Exposure to institutional/B2B sales environments.
Strong understanding of distributor networks and regional market dynamics.
Experience working with HNIs, wealth managers, private banks, or institutional intermediaries.

Candidate Eligibility

Preferred Profile: Candidates currently or previously working with an AMC in a distribution-focused sales role.

Not Eligible: Candidates whose experience is primarily in direct sales, retail sales, individual customer acquisition, or consumer-facing sales without significant distribution-channel management experience.
