About the Role
As an Application Engineer I at Swiss Re, you will be at the heart of building and running industry leading applications that power international insurance programs. Working alongside Cloud Architects, DevOps Engineers, and Front-End Developers, you will contribute to a modern, cloud native development stack that is secure, scalable, and resilient. Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop across all layers of the application stack, leveraging your full-stack expertise to deliver high-quality, maintainable code
Build and enhance Single-Page Applications (SPAs) using modern front-end frameworks, primarily Angular, in collaboration with Front-End Developers.
Develop and maintain containerized microservices, working alongside other Full-Stack Developers to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability
Configure and optimize CI/CD pipelines in partnership with DevOps Engineers, supporting continuous delivery and application monitoring
Develop and refactor applications in object-oriented languages, primarily Java, following best practices and clean code principles
Host and manage applications on cloud compute services including Azure App Service, Azure Functions, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
Implement asynchronous application patterns using messaging services such as Azure Service Bus Develop security solutions utilizing modern authentication and authorization protocols including OIDC & OAuth2 with Azure AD and Okta Collaborate with Architects on the
Core Squad to contribute to the design and development of core applications and services Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements :
4–5+ years of experience in agile software engineering as a full-stack developer, with strong proficiency in Angular or React Strong Java and Spring Boot expertise, with proficiency across the entire software delivery lifecycle
2+ years of cloud technology experience, with a preference for hands-on Microsoft Azure experience (Azure App Service, Azure Functions, AKS, Azure Service Bus)
These are additional nice to haves:
Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes Familiarity with security protocols including OIDC, OAuth2, Azure AD, and Okta Exposure to CI/CD pipeline configuration and application monitoring tools
Strong understanding of ORM frameworks and modern programming paradigms
Experience working in the insurance or financial services industry
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional, globally distributed teams
Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
