Role Overview

The AI Engineering Lead will establish and drive AI-first engineering practices across multiple development teams, ensuring engineers use approved agentic AI tools effectively, securely, and consistently.

The role combines strong OutSystems technical expertise with hands-on agentic coding experience, engineering standards, human review controls, CI/CD quality gates, team coaching, and measurement of AI-driven productivity and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Define AI-first engineering standards, playbooks, prompt/context libraries, and agent rules.

• Establish mandatory human review gates and Definition of Done requirements for AI-generated code, tests, and documentation.

• Drive adoption of agentic coding tools across OutSystems teams.

• Integrate AI-related quality checks into CI/CD pipelines.

• Coach developers and technical leads on AI-assisted engineering practices.

• Develop and execute AI upskilling and enablement plans.

• Track AI adoption, delivery improvement, rework, defect rates, and review effort.

• Establish feedback loops to improve prompts, agent workflows, engineering standards, and output quality.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of overall experience, including 5+ years of OutSystems experience.

• Strong OutSystems architecture and development knowledge.

• At least 1.5 years of hands-on AI-assisted delivery using agentic coding tools.

• Expert practical experience with tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, preferably within OutSystems projects.

• Experience defining and implementing AI engineering standards for a team or multiple teams.

• Experience establishing code-review standards, quality gates, and Definition of Done requirements for AI-generated output.

• Knowledge of CI/CD integration and automated quality checks.

• Experience coaching developers and driving engineering adoption of new tools or practices.

• Ability to measure AI adoption, productivity, rework, and defects using meaningful delivery metrics.

• Understanding of secure AI-assisted development and alignment with organizational AI policies.

Preferred Skills

• OutSystems MCP integration and Model Context Protocol.

• OutSystems Mentor or AI Agent Builder.

• Experience rolling out AI engineering practices across multiple distributed teams.

• Experience measuring AI-assisted development outcomes using CI/CD and engineering data.
